ZingHR Cuts Losses by 67% Despite Rising Expenses in FY24
ZingHR cut its losses by a whopping 67% in the last financial year. This is undoubtedly a great achievement, considering that the HR tech company faced mounting expenses across significant operational areas.
The Mumbai-based firm reported a net loss of Rs 7 crore for FY24, down from Rs 21 crore in the previous year, signaling a potential turning point for the subscription-based HR software provider.
Employee costs ate up the lion's share of ZingHR's budget, jumping 37% to Rs 81 crore and accounting for 61% of total expenses. The company also saw server and data security charges surge by 71% to Rs 12 crore, while product maintenance spending climbed 50% to Rs 9 crore.
Despite these rising costs pushing total expenses up by 24% to Rs 133 crore, ZingHR significantly improved its bottom line.
"The human resources technology sector faces constant disruption, making ZingHR's financial improvement particularly noteworthy," according to an HR software market analyst. "Their subscription model appears to be gaining traction across banking, retail, and IT sectors."
Financial metrics tell the story of a company still working toward profitability. ZingHR spent Rs 1.07 to earn each rupee last year, with a Return on Capital Employed of -24.69% and an EBITDA margin of -5.52%.
The company reported Rs 56 crore in current assets, including Rs 12 crore in cash reserves. According to TheKredible, ZingHR has raised $14 million to date, with Tata Capital holding a 35.82% stake as the lead investor.
Industry watchers believe ZingHR might avoid future funding needs if it maintains its current trajectory. The firm could boost growth by expanding international revenue streams, particularly as government and state-owned enterprises adopt HR technology solutions.
The biggest hurdle for HR tech providers remains cracking the micro, small, and medium enterprise market, which continues to resist adoption across service categories.
For companies hunting talent acquisition software or exploring BFSI-focused HR platforms, ZingHR's improving financials suggest it's becoming a more stable option in a competitive marketplace expected to grow substantially over the next five years.
