According to regulatory filings made on Wednesday, quick commerce and food delivery giant Swiggy has allocated 8.64 lakh equity shares to employees under its Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP) 2021.

The allotment, worth more than Rs 30 crore based on the stock's NSE closing price of Rs 355, increases the company's paid-up share capital to 228 crore equity shares.

"Further, we would like to confirm that the above allotted shares shall rank pari-passu with the existing equity shares of the company," Swiggy stated in its exchange filing.

This latest allocation comes less than a week after the Bengaluru-based company announced the allotment of 1.71 crore equity shares under both its Swiggy ESOP 2015 and Swiggy ESOP 2021 programs.

The Sriharsha Majety-led company has actively rewarded employees through stock options in 2025. In January, it allotted 2.61 crore equity shares under the 2015 and 2021 ESOP plans, bringing total allocations to approximately five crore equity shares since the beginning of the year.

Swiggy isn't alone in ramping up employee stock option allocations. Just a day earlier, beauty and personal care retailer Nykaa allotted 90,500 equity shares under its ESOP scheme, adding to previous allotments of 4.8 lakh equity shares made during the December quarter.

Earlier this month, One97 Communications Ltd, the parent company of fintech firm Paytm, expanded its employee stock option scheme, allocating 1,36,528 equity shares to eligible employees.

The trend of increasing ESOP allocations comes as tech companies look to retain talent in a competitive hiring market while managing cash compensation costs.
