Specialty chemicals platform Scimplify has secured $40 million in its Series B funding round. Accel and Bertelsmann India Investments led the financing, with UMI and existing backers Omnivore and 3one4 Capital also participating.

The startup focuses on three key areas – life sciences, crop sciences, and industrial chemicals – where Indian manufacturers offer cost advantages but often lack global reach.

Scimplify plans to use this money to expand beyond the 16 countries it currently operates and strengthen its foothold in life sciences, crop sciences, and industrial chemicals.

"We've built this business to bring India's manufacturing capabilities to customers across the globe," Salil Srivastava, Scimplify co-founder, told reporters yesterday. "Supply chains are changing fast, and companies need partners who understand both R&D and production needs."

Founded in 2023 by Srivastava, Dheeraj Dhingra, and former OfBusiness executive Sachin Santhosh, the firm has created a network connecting 200 manufacturing plants throughout India. Their model lets foreign buyers use India's production capacity without building their own facilities.

This latest funding brings Scimplify's total raised to $54 million. Moneycontrol had previously reported the company was in talks for a $30 million deal.

Scimplify enters a growing field of startups working to modernize chemical supply chains through digital platforms. The company's focus on connecting international buyers with Indian producers comes as many global businesses look to reduce their dependence on traditional manufacturing centers.

The firm expects to announce several new markets and capabilities in the coming months as it uses this funding.
