Blockchain-based AI startup Sentient launched Sentient Chat, a new agentic chatbot platform boasting 15 natively integrated AI agents. Within 24 hours of its announcement, Sentient Chat attracted over 1 million early access sign-ups.

The company unveiled the platform at the Open AGI Summit during ETH Denver, showcasing its capabilities to over 1,500 crypto and AI developers. This launch positions Sentient as a direct competitor to established AI chatbot providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral AI, and Perplexity AI.

Four AI agents are currently available to users, with more planned for imminent release. These specialized agents enable users to invoke dedicated functions and automate complex tasks directly within the conversational interface.

Sentient Chat integrates real-time search functionality that combines Dobby's knowledge base with live internet data, delivering up-to-date responses beyond the limitations of static training datasets. This feature establishes the platform as a robust alternative to Perplexity AI and Google in the conversational search space.

Evaluations from Confident AI have rated the underlying Dobby model highly for natural dialogue capabilities compared to competing platforms, emphasizing the chatbot's human-like conversational abilities.

The platform builds upon Dobby, which Sentient describes as "the world's first community-owned AI model" – a system that previously engaged more than 660,000 users through what the company calls a record-breaking ownership mint. Holders of Dobby NFTs linked to Sentient's Loyal AI model received priority early access to Sentient Chat when the waitlist and raffle opened on February 25.

"This launch builds on Sentient's earlier advancements with Dobby, which pioneered human-like conversations in AI—later adopted by peers like xAI with their upcoming 'unhinged' Grok update," the company stated.

The San Francisco-based startup secured substantial financial backing last year, raising $85 million in seed funding co-led by Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, and Framework Ventures. Additional investors included Ethereal Ventures, Robot Ventures, Symbolic Capital, Delphi Ventures, Republic, and Arrington Capital.

Co-founded by Sandeep Nailwal, creator of blockchain platform Polygon, Sentient focuses on merging blockchain technology with artificial intelligence to develop decentralized AI solutions.
