Rapido to Launch Women-Only Bike Taxis in Karnataka
Rapido's hitting the streets with a new spin on bike taxis - pink bikes driven by women, for women. The company's throwing open the doors to thousands of female drivers across Karnataka later this year.
Speaking at Friday's Global Investment Summit, Rapido co-founder Pavan Guntupalli laid out the plan to put 25,000 women behind the handlebars. "Success for us? That's when a woman can hop on a bike and get where she's going without a worry in the world," he said.
But this isn't just about slapping pink paint on some bikes. Guntupalli's talking about real opportunities, especially for women from smaller towns who might not have fancy degrees. In fact, over a third of their current workforce comes from these areas.
"We're not cutting corners on safety," Guntupalli added. They've loaded security features to keep riders and drivers safe.
At the same event, Edelweiss Mutual Fund boss Radhika Gupta chimed in about the bigger picture. With Karnataka gunning for that trillion-dollar economy mark, she reckons young entrepreneurs need to grab these chances to make real change happen.
Guntupalli's words of wisdom, too: "One person can light the spark, but it takes all of us to start a fire." Looks like Rapido's ready to ignite something big in Karnataka's transport scene.
