Prime Venture Partners Secures $100 Million Fund for Early-Stage Investments
Prime Venture Partners has raised $100 million in its fifth fund, targeting investments in early-stage Indian startups. The domestic venture capital firm has secured approximately 80% of fund commitments from global institutional investors.
Founding partner Sanjay Swamy indicated the firm will make initial investments of $2-4 million, potentially scaling to $12 million across 16-18 selected companies. The investment strategy will focus on sectors including deep tech, artificial intelligence, and global software-as-a-service platforms.
Investor Composition
The fund has attracted contributions from international sources, including family offices, university endowments, and fund-of-funds based in the United States, Singapore, Europe, and the Middle East.
Prime Venture Partners' previous funds have demonstrated notable performance, with the first fund delivering returns of approximately 4.7X. The firm has historically supported over 50 early-stage startups, including successful exits like Happay's sale to Cred and Recko's acquisition by Stripe.
Investment Philosophy
The firm plans to commence new investments in the latter half of 2025, continuing to deploy capital from its fourth fund for follow-on rounds in existing portfolio companies.
Prime Venture Partners maintains a measured approach to startup investments, prioritizing long-term value creation over rapid exit strategies.
