Hyderabad-based fitness tech startup Portl is transforming home workouts with its latest innovation, the Portl UltraGym. This compact strength training system, priced at Rs 59,990, uses advanced digital weights technology to bring professional-grade equipment into homes.

The UltraGym, which occupies just 2.4 square feet, employs Hydraulic and Electromagnetic Resistance Technology to deliver weights ranging from 0.5 kg to 70 kg. The system includes AI-powered safety features that distinguish between workout struggles and potential dangers and a companion app that offers guidance for over 150 exercises.

Founded in 2021 by Indraneel Gupta, Vishal Chandapeta, and Armaan Kandhari, Portl's flagship product is the Portl Studio, a Rs 1.25 lakh smart mirror featuring a 43-inch 4K screen, HD cameras, and biosensors. This AI-enabled device provides real-time posture analysis and personalized fitness routines based on individual user profiles and health conditions.

Portl is growing from strength to strength with a solid $3 million in funding with participation from Bharat Innovation Fund, Kalaari Capital, and T-Hub Foundation. They plan to ramp up production to 1,000 units quarterly to meet increasing demand.

Portl's business model spans both B2B and B2C segments. Revenue streams come from direct sales, subscription services, and partnerships with luxury hotels, including the Taj Group and Accor Group. The company has already facilitated over 20,000 hours of workouts globally and is expanding its presence beyond tier-1 Indian cities into Middle Eastern markets.

Portl's future vision is to strengthen its position in the growing home fitness equipment market, which is projected to reach $18.94 billion globally by 2032. They plan to give tough competition to other international players like Peloton, Tonal, and Tempo in this domain.
