Perfios Expands Financial Tech Capabilities with Credit Nirvana Acquisition
Indian B2B SaaS powerhouse Perfios has acquired Credit Nirvana, strengthening its position in the debt management sector through strategic expansion of its financial technology offerings. For an undisclosed amount, the acquisition brings AI-powered collection capabilities to Perfios' growing portfolio.
Credit Nirvana, a four-year-old startup using AI to automate debt collection, has a hefty portfolio—over $9 billion in managed collections spanning 42 million loan accounts across banks, NBFCs, and asset reconstruction firms.
"We're not just adding another product here," said Perfios CEO Sabyasachi Goswami. "This acquisition lets us tackle the entire lending lifecycle from origination through collections." The company wants to blend Credit Nirvana's tech with its existing platforms to give lenders better tools for managing troubled loans.
For Credit Nirvana founder Raj MKK, the deal means reaching new markets. "We've built something that works," he said. "Now with Perfios behind us, we can scale it across regions and set new benchmarks in how debt gets managed and recovered."
The buyout follows Perfios' recent grab of Clari5, which specializes in financial crime management. Both moves signal the company's expansion into the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia.
Founded in 2008, Perfios has spent years building tech that helps financial institutions handle everything from loan applications to monitoring. The company now serves banks and lenders across 18 countries.
The deal lands amid a flurry of activity in India's debt collection tech scene. Ex-Kissht founders recently launched Rezolv, snagging $3.5 million in seed funding to build a debt resolution platform. Their approach uses AI to boost recovery rates while giving lenders more innovative collection tools.
Other players like Credgenics, Creditas, and Decentro also shake up how lenders recover loans. These startups are helping banks ditch old-school phone calls for data-driven approaches, complete with digital payment options and automated legal processes.
For Perfios, swallowing Credit Nirvana means strengthening its hand in a sector where margins are tight and competition fierce. As bad loans continue to plague Indian lenders, tools that make collection more efficient have become hot property in fintech.
