HR Tech Unicorn Darwinbox Secures $140 Million in Funding Co-Led by Partners Group and KKR
HR technology unicorn Darwinbox has secured $140 million in a fresh funding round co-led by Partners Group and KKR, with additional participation from Gravity Holdings. The Hyderabad-based company plans to use the capital to accelerate product development and expand its global footprint in the human resource management software market.
"This investment is a testament to Darwinbox's strong fundamentals and the trust we have earned from our 1,000+ global customer base," said Jayant Paleti, Co-founder of Darwinbox. "By placing the employee experience front and center — and ensuring our platform is deeply configurable to diverse local needs — we have helped transform HR for enterprises globally."
Founded in 2015, Darwinbox offers cloud-based Human Capital Management (HCM) software that addresses HR needs throughout the entire employee lifecycle. The company has expanded internationally across multiple markets, including Asia Pacific, the Middle East, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Since entering the North American market two years ago, Darwinbox has gained significant traction and is now strengthening its regional presence. The company reports a fivefold growth in revenue in global markets over the last two years, with over 60% coming from new markets.
"Darwinbox operates in the rapidly growing HR tech market, which we have been tracking through our thematic research," said Cyrus Driver, Managing Director, Private Equity at Partners Group. "The company is acting as a key disruptor to legacy platforms in this space, investing heavily in product innovation, generative AI, and global expansion, and is well positioned to take market share."
The HR tech platform currently serves over 900 enterprise customers with nearly three million employees as end-users across 130 countries. Its client roster includes major corporations like Starbucks, Nivea, AXA, Cigna, WeWork, and Crisil (an S&P company).
Last year, the company promoted Chief Technology Officer Vineet Singh to Co-founder, strengthening its leadership team as it competes against established HR management systems and expands its artificial intelligence capabilities in talent acquisition and employee engagement software.
With backing from global investors, including TCV, Microsoft, Salesforce Ventures, Peak XV, Lightspeed, and Endiya Partners, Darwinbox continues to challenge legacy human resource platforms by offering innovative workforce management solutions that emphasize user experience and localization features for global enterprises.
