In a significant boost to India's growing workforce mobility sector, BorderPlus has secured Rs 60 crore ($7 million) from education technology investor Owl Ventures and a roster of high-profile entrepreneurs. The funding marks the first external investment for the startup, which helps Indian healthcare workers find opportunities abroad.

Binny Bansal, Ritesh Agarwal, Mithun Sacheti, Aakash Chaudhary, and Apoorva Patni joined the funding round, bringing their entrepreneurial expertise to the young company.

The startup began operations in January and was founded by upGrad co-founder Mayank Kumar and former OYO executive Ayush Mathur. It aims to bridge the gap between skilled Indian healthcare workers and international employers, starting with nurses seeking jobs overseas.

"We're already seeing strong traction with our first batch of nurses," said a company spokesperson. BorderPlus takes care of everything from training and language skills to visas and job placement. The platform even helps workers settle into their new countries, handling qualification paperwork and providing financial support.

The fresh funding will help BorderPlus expand its reach in the healthcare sector, where demand for skilled Indian professionals continues to grow worldwide. BorderPlus plans to launch a finishing school for healthcare workers. This innovative finishing school will address all workers' concerns in international roles.

As global healthcare worker shortages persist, BorderPlus is positioning itself as a key player in connecting Indian talent with worldwide opportunities. The platform's comprehensive support system - training, immigration, and cultural integration - sets it apart in the competitive workforce mobility space.
