Government Partners with Stride Ventures to Boost Indian Startup Growth
In a significant move to strengthen India's startup ecosystem, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has announced a strategic partnership with venture debt firm Stride Ventures. The collaboration aims to accelerate the global expansion of Indian startups through a combination of financial support and strategic guidance.
The initiative, announced by DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv, will see Stride Ventures develop specialized programs and participate in key projects like the Bharat Grand Challenge. These efforts foster entrepreneurship and attract investment, particularly in manufacturing, consumer, B2B, and cleantech sectors.
"This partnership aligns perfectly with our Make in India and Make for the World initiatives," said Sanjiv. He added, "We're creating a robust framework to support innovative enterprises across the country."
Similarly, Ishpreet Singh Gandhi, the founder and managing partner of Stride Ventures, talked about the firm's commitment to the partnership. "We're pledging one billion dollars to nurture startups that are building in India for global markets," Gandhi stated. "This collaboration represents a crucial step in unleashing India's entrepreneurial potential."
The partnership's scope extends beyond major metropolitan areas, with special attention given to startups in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. In this program, the entrepreneurs will receive access to global mentorship networks and coaching on various funding options.
Through this initiative, the DPIIT officials noted that the program will also serve as a gateway for international startups seeking to enter the Indian market, creating a two-way bridge for business opportunities. The department expects this initiative to contribute significantly to India's broader economic objectives of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
