goSTOPS Secures Rs 35 Crore in Series A Funding to Transform Budget Travel Landscape
Backpacker hostel brand goSTOPS has raised Rs 35 crore ($4.2 million) in Series A funding to quadruple its bed capacity across India within two years. Blume Ventures led the round with continued backing from 1Crowd and several angel networks.
The fresh capital will help goSTOPS expand from its current 2,500 beds to 10,000 beds spread across 100 locations, up from the 30+ destinations it currently serves. The company is also finalizing debt partnerships to boost its expansion war chest further.
"This money gives us the runway to become India's go-to youth travel brand," said Pallavi Agarwal, who founded goSTOPS with Pankaj Parwanda in 2014. "We're making travel accessible to young Indians who want experiences, not just places to sleep."
The Mumbai-based startup has built its business around tech-enabled, community-focused hostels that appeal to Gen Z and millennial travelers. Its digital ecosystem includes separate apps for guests and staff, featuring everything from app-based check-ins and digital door locks to smart lockers and real-time service requests.
"We've made the whole operation foolproof by weaving tech into everything we do," Parwanda explained. "Whether it's fixing problems within 15 minutes or helping guests connect with each other, the technology makes it happen seamlessly."
The funding follows several smaller rounds totaling about $3 million between 2019 and 2024, showing investors' growing interest in India's budget accommodation sector.
Ashish Fafadia of Blume Ventures praised goSTOPS for building a "category-defining brand" through its operational expertise and tech-driven efficiencies. "They've figured out how to make the economics work while scaling quickly," he said.
1Crowd co-founder Anil Gudibande, who has backed the company through multiple funding rounds, highlighted goSTOPS' focus on creating memorable experiences rather than maximizing asset use.
The company plans to use the funds to beef up operations, enhance its technology, and improve the social aspects of its properties.
