Enlighten Angel Fund Transforms As Enlighten Capital Micro VC; New Rs. 200 Crore Fund Launched
Enlighten Angel Fund has rebranded itself as Enlighten Capital Micro VC after receiving SEBI approval to operate as an Alternate Investment Fund (AIF). This transformation positions the firm to make a more profound impact in India’s thriving startup landscape.
The new branding comes with a Rs 200 crore fund and a Rs 100 crore greenshoe option. This inaugural fund will support startups with bold, scalable ideas that push the boundaries of innovation. The new fund will focus on domains like emerging technologies, smart manufacturing, and electric vehicles.
The firm has already earned a reputation for identifying high-potential ventures. In the past two years, it syndicated over 10 investments under its previous name, Enlighten Angel Fund.
Enlighten Capital is led by seasoned professionals who deeply understand India’s startup ecosystem. Koushik Shekar and Arvind Subramaniam are at the helm, supported by a strong partner team comprising Goutham Sekhar, Snehali Mansingh Khamkar, and Rohit Mohan.
Koushik, who began his career in technology with Sutherland and CITI, later transitioned into consulting and angel investing. Arvind brings a unique perspective as an entrepreneur-turned-venture-capitalist, having achieved a successful exit in his own startup journey. Before joining forces with Koushik to steer Enlighten Capital’s transformation, he served with StartupTN, the innovation agency of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
“We are driven by the belief that startups hold the key to shaping India’s future,” said Koushik Shekar, Managing Partner at Enlighten Capital. “Through this fund, we aim to empower founders crafting meaningful solutions.”
Arvind Subramaniam, General Partner, added, “We’re targeting high-growth industries like fintech, mobility, and emerging technologies. These sectors offer immense potential for both economic and societal impact, and we are thrilled to back the innovators driving these changes.”
With its newly launched fund and redefined mission, Enlighten Capital is poised to play a larger role in catalyzing India’s entrepreneurial growth. By focusing on early-stage startups, the firm aims to provide not just financial backing but also strategic guidance to ventures poised to transform the innovation landscape.
