Digital Edge Secures $1.6 Billion in Fresh Funding to Power Asian Expansion
Digital Edge, the Singapore-based data center operator, announced a significant capital raise of over $1.6 billion. This fresh capital would position the company to fulfill Asia's growing cloud computing and AI demands.
This funding package combines approximately $640 million in equity from existing and new investors. Digital Edge plans to use this substantial capital injection to accelerate its expansion across Asian markets, where demand for data center services continues to surge.
Digital Edge was founded in 2020 and has rapidly established a significant presence in Asia. The company currently operates 21 data centers in six countries: Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Its portfolio includes over 500 megawatts of capacity either in service or under development, with an additional 300 megawatts reserved for future projects.
Digital Edge is backed by Stonepeak, a New York-based investment firm specializing in infrastructure and tangible assets. Stonepeak, which manages approximately $70 billion in assets, has significantly influenced Digital Edge's growth trajectory.
This latest funding round of Digital Edge signals growing investor confidence in Asia's digital infrastructure sector, particularly as businesses across the region accelerate their adoption of cloud services and AI technologies.
