CRED Unveils Svalbard - Comprehensive Credit Management Suite Aims to Transform Personal Finance
Fintech giant CRED has launched Svalbard, a comprehensive suite of credit management tools designed to help members improve credit scores, efficiently manage multiple cards, and access secured credit without liquidating their investments.
"Svalbard is about making responsible credit behaviour easy," said Kunal Shah, Founder of CRED, during the launch event. The new offerings include a predictive credit score tool, enhanced card management features, and instant loans against mutual funds.
The platform's new credit score system provides deeper insights and proactive alerts. Foresight, a machine learning-based simulation tool, predicts how specific financial actions—applying for a new loan, increasing credit utilization, or missing payments—will impact a user's credit score.
It estimates timelines for reaching target scores based on recommended changes, such as reducing credit utilization, maintaining older credit accounts, or diversifying between secured and unsecured loans.
CRED has also introduced a unified credit card dashboard that consolidates data from multiple cards into a single interface.
To combat hidden charges and billing errors, CRED Protect scans statements for unauthorized fees, incorrect interest charges, and unexpected term changes. "We detected over Rs 11,000 crore in hidden charges and late fees over the past year," Shah revealed. The system simplifies dispute resolution by providing issuers with direct call options.
CRED Cash+, another key offering, allows creditworthy users to borrow against mutual fund holdings at rates starting from 8.99%. "Less than 1% of India's Rs 33 lakh crore mutual fund assets are pledged, even though many of these investors take personal loans instead. That doesn't make sense," Shah pointed out. The platform aims to make such borrowing "frictionless" by eliminating paperwork and human intervention.
Shah also announced the establishment of the CRED Foundation, which will be funded by 1% of the company's ownership. The foundation will focus on financial literacy and fraud prevention initiatives in partnership with government agencies.
