AstroTalk Launches D2C Vertical with Gemstone Store, Eyes Rs 100 Crore ARR by FY25
In a strategic move to capitalize on growing consumer interest in spiritual wellness, online astrology platform AstroTalk has introduced the Astrotalk Store, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) vertical specializing in gemstones and healing accessories.
The new store offers a curated collection of gemstones "charged with positive mantras and chants" by astrologers, featuring categories like Love, Money, and Evil Eye. According to co-founder Anmol Jain, the launch addresses a significant market demand for authentic spiritual remedies.
Rapid Growth and Financial Projections
Since its launch four months ago, the Astrotalk Store has been generating daily revenues between Rs 10-15 lakh, translating to an annualized run rate of Rs 36-45 crore. The company ambitiously targets an annual run rate of Rs 100 crore by the end of the fiscal year 2025.
Jain stated that the D2C vertical is expected to contribute 25-30% of the company's total revenue while achieving profitability. The products are currently available on major e-commerce platforms like Myntra and Amazon. They also have plans to launch their products in the quick-commerce domain.
Company Performance
AstroTalk's financial performance in the previous fiscal year was robust. The company's revenue from operations surged 2.3x to Rs 651.12 crore, with profits growing 11.8x year-on-year to Rs 99.99 crores.
For the current fiscal year (FY25), AstroTalk projects doubling its revenue to approximately Rs 1,250 crore and operating profit between Rs 230 and 250 crore.
Platform Scale
The platform boasts an impressive network of over 41,000 astrologers and serves more than 450,000 daily and 2.5 million monthly users. To date, AstroTalk has raised $34 million across two funding rounds.
Industry Perspective
While the startup's growth metrics are promising, industry observers note potential challenges. The increasing involvement of venture capital might introduce pressures that could alter the platform's existing model, potentially impacting the working conditions of its astrologer community.
As AstroTalk expands its offerings and scales its operations, the market will watch how this innovative astrology platform navigates its growth trajectory.
