Adobe Takes On OpenAI's Sora with New AI Video Generator
Adobe just jumped into the AI video race, rolling out a new feature that lets anyone turn text into video. The move pits them directly against OpenAI's buzzy Sora and Google's Veo AI.
The new tool, tucked into Adobe's Firefly web app, isn't just another AI experiment. Adobe's betting big on what they're calling the first "commercially safe" AI video generator on the market. Want to turn a simple text description into a video? Done. Got a specific image in mind? The tool can use that as inspiration, too.
But here's where it gets interesting: while other AI companies are catching heat for using copyrighted material, Adobe's playing it safe. They're only training their AI on stuff they have permission to use, such as Adobe Stock images and public-domain content. Plus, they're steering clear of customer content for training.
Right now, the tool can pump out 5-second clips at 1080p, taking about a minute and a half to work its magic. Adobe's already thinking more significantly, though, with plans for a quick-and-dirty low-res version and a fancy 4K model.
There's good news for anyone already living in Adobe's world - the tool plays agreeably well with Photoshop, Premier Pro, and Adobe Express. But it'll cost you. The Standard plan (₹797.68 monthly or ₹7,986.24 yearly) gets you 20 video generations a month. Need more? The Pro plan (₹2,394.22 monthly or ₹23,944.56 yearly) bumps that up to 70.
